College Spotlight: Shepherd University

ShepherdShepherd University is located just two hours away from Calvert County in the oldest town in West Virginia, Shepherdstown.  It is known for it’s educational opportunities and hands-on learning experiences.

The University offers baccalaureate degrees in a wide range of fields, focusing on liberal arts, business administration, teacher education, the social and natural sciences, and other career-oriented areas. Within walking distance or a drive of the campus are well-known historic landmarks including Harpers Ferry and the Antietam Battlefield.  You can get a group of friends together and water raft, tube, or kayak down nearby rivers.

Shepherd has a student body of about 4,000 and a teacher:student ratio of 24:1. The college is divided into two sides; the east side is made of white brick while the west side is built of red brick.   Athletic fields and living is on the west side while classrooms and dining halls are located on the east side. The Rams are a part of the WVIAC Division II athletic conference.  Starting this year, the Rams have made a new addition to the athletic department with a Lacrosse team and a brand new field.  If you like historic cities and numerous opportunities to learn, you should consider checking out Shepherd University.
