One of the worst parts of the past school year was the absence of Spirit Week and Homecoming. This year, the students at Northern High School were finally able to participate in these festivities. This was important to many students around campus and a great relief to have some normalcy back in our lives. The Homecoming dance had a very high turnout with SGA sponsor, Mrs. Theresa Jackson, doing an excellent job with decoration and making it feel like the Roaring 20s. With the cancellation of last year’s Homecoming, this was a brand new experience for both the freshman and sophomore classes. For sophomore Sahil Lengade, it was an awesome first high school Homecoming. “It was a really fun time getting to be out with my friends and getting to dress up for the event,” he said. Lengade went on to say that his favorite part of Homecoming was “being able to have high school fun and not having to worry about all the COVID restrictions and getting to just be around all my friends.” This year’s event was different from years past, because it was held in the courtyard instead of the gym. Freshman Jenna Dobson attended the dance and stated, “It was really nice having the dance outside and very different from what I have heard about past Homecoming dances.”
