The Junior Class Council hosted a comedy Hypnosis Show in the Mary Harrison Center on Tuesday, May 21. The star, Jason Linett, hypnotized Northern students on the stage. This was the third year in a row he has performed at the school. Linett hopes to return next year.

One by one, volunteers were brought up to the stage to test Linett’s skills. “It was so weird. It felt like you were sleeping but could hear everything. I can only remember certain things like the music playing right before I got hypnotized,” Junior Megan Ogle said. The hypnotist used different techniques to show the audience that the participants were actually hypnotized and under his power. You could tell that people were hypnotized because they were next to people that they didn’t know and when they were asleep they were practically lying on top of one another.

“I was sitting in the audience throughout the show and was laughing the whole time. Jason Linett was hilarious with what he made everyone do,” said Junior Avery Dickinson. At the end of the show, the hypnotist gave everyone different things to do when they sat down in the audience. “It was funny sitting in the audience and seeing everyone do different things when he says or plays different music. It was the funniest when he assigned people to be like 007 and be an undercover spy,” said Junior Kelsie Matheson.

“I sat back down after it was over and felt really relaxed. I was also red in the face, my mom said, because I was moving a lot of the show,” said Junior Brian Bowen.  “Also, I felt really hot in the face, it felt like I just worked out at the gym.” The event helped the Junior Class Council raise money for next year’s Project Grad. Turnout was not as strong as expected this year. “The show was really exciting and suspenseful to see what was going to happen next. It was definitely worth going to,” said Junior Class Council President Karly Klem.
