Homecoming Week at NHS

Homecoming week has arrived, which means it’s time for Spirit Week. This year’s Spirit Week is being cut short due to Election Day on Tuesday. The week leads to the main events, the football game and the Homecoming Dance.

This year, Spirit Week consistas of three days. Monday is neon day in which each class is assigned a specific color – freshmen wear yellow, sophomores wear orange, juniors wear green, and seniors, of course, wear pink. Tuesday there is no school, so our next spirit day is Wednesday, which is Twin Day. To wrap up our three day Spirit Week we have Spirit Day. So break out your Northern Patriot apparel and get your spirit on.

Don’t forget to check out the Homecoming game at Northern, September 16 at 7 p.m. Leonardtown is the unlucky team that get’s to face Northern on September 17. Last year, everyone remembers the 49-20 defeat of Rockville. Northern students are certainly ready to win two straight Homecoming games in front of the packed house. “I think if we keep it up on offense then our chances of winning will be very high,” said freshman halfback Austin Howard.

Students at Northern are also buzzing about the Homecoming Dance. Girls are rushing to get their dresses and guys are excited as well. The theme for the dance is “Welcome to the Jungle.” “I’m looking forward to the dance this year because the theme seems fascinating,” said Sophomore Evan Norfolk.
