When the cheer squad takes the court at games, they look like they are nothing but confidence, but the basketball cheerleading season  started in a panic. The first day of tryouts the girls were told they only have that day and the next to show they were good enough to make the team. “Tryouts went really fast, but everyone did great for only having two days to show they have what it takes,” said junior Kaitlyn Bowman.

A lot of freshmen impressed their coaches and some of the veteran cheerleaders. “The freshmen really stepped up. Many of them knew that they had to do great because there isn’t a freshman team this year,” said Bowman. Cheerleaders hope to have a great season this year. “We will look better than Huntingtown when the basketball team plays them, and for us to improve our stunting and being ready for competition,” said junior Aidan Coughlin.

Almost all of the cheerleaders who made the basketball cheer team also cheered for the football team. “The main difference between football and basketball cheerleading is there isn’t as much space. The track is a lot bigger than the sidelines in the gym. We can’t tumble during the game. we have to do it during timeouts, ” said Coughlin. The girls are now showing their skills at every home basketball game this season.
