Looking for something fun to do on one of these chilly December afternoons? Take a trip to the movie theater to see Catching Fire, the second installment in The Hunger Games series based on Suzanne Collins’ best selling series.

If you read the novel, you know all of the exciting things about to happen in the movie. If not, don’t worry. Catching Fire picks up right where The Hunger Games left off with Jennifer Lawrence (Katniss) and Josh Hutcherson (Peeta) ready to embark on their Victory Tour for winning the 74th annual Hunger Games. Katniss is visited by totalitarian leader President Snow who warns her of the rebellion she created by almost eating the berries in the previous Games. Katniss and Peeta must try to settle the rebellion, but when their efforts are not enough, they are thrown back into the arena for the Quarter Quell games in which they must compete against other victors. We quickly see the traits of other victors and the intricate plans some of them have to stop the Games.

If you are looking for a thrilling, yet humorous movie Catching Fire is for you. Lawrence puts on a stunning show. Her emotions range from all out rage to those of a soft sensitive young woman. Hutcherson continues to make viewers fall in love with his boy with the bread persona. The graphics and scenery keep your eyes hooked on the screen every second. You actually feel like you are in the heart-stopping arena with the characters in the PG-13 rated film.

Make some time in your busy holiday schedule this year to see Catching Fire. And may the odds be ever in your favor. Grade: A
