Northern’s annual Holiday Craft Fair was held Saturday, November 23. The NHS Band Boosters, run by the dedicated parents of the school’s band members, held the event as a fundraiser. School clubs and vendors from around the area came to sell what they have made to Calvert County locals. There were over 60 crafters at the event selling everything from clocks made out of records to baby supplies.

A few groups from Northern even came to sell their homemade goods. National Art Honor Society started the day off with 15 candles made by members of the group, which were such a success with only had three left halfway through the fair. Key Club had an assortment of goods to sell, from delicious baked goods to scarfs and bracelets made by the members. Half of Key Clubs profits went to The Eliminate Project, a charitable organization that provides neonatal vaccines to unborn babies in the third world. Along with the vendors, Mr. and Mrs. Claus came to say hello to kids and take pictures. There was also food provided by the Northern Band for sale at the event.

The craft fair was very successful. The marching band earned a great profit for it, along with the other vendors participating in the event. “I’ve always appreciated them putting on the Craft Fair because it’s a great way to get our community involved and see all of the creative minds in Calvert County,” said junior Olivia O’Kane, one of the vendors at the event.
