This year the Homecoming theme is modeled after the hit novel and film The Great Gatsby“I think it will be fun to see how everyone dresses and how the gym will be transformed,” said Sophomore Eddie Zhang.  “Party at Gatsby’s” has drawn a lot of reaction around the school. Some people think the idea is creative, but some students, like Junior Liam Megonigal said; “It was all about affairs and didn’t have a happy ending which I don’t like.”

As Homecoming approaches, all of the members of the Student Government Association (SGA) are required to put forth 20 hours of work to stay in the club. This is to ensure that everything gets ready for the dance next Saturday night. The Gatsby Mansion will be brought to life October 12, by using a lot of black and gold with an old Hollywood theme. “It’s different and a lot of people aren’t used having a more mature theme,” said SGA President, junior Kara Roberts.

A newcomer is taking all of this on this year, as SGA has a new sponsor, Ms. Jamie Culp, who is working with Ms. Danielle Morrow on the project. Since SGA is one of the biggest clubs in the school, this can be a pretty big task.

Homecoming week starts Monday with Class Color Day (Freshmen – Yellow, Sophomores – orange, Juniors – green, Seniors – purple). Tuesday is Twin Day. Wednesday is Senior Citizens Day. Thursday is Flashback Day. Friday is Spirit Day and will include the annual Pep Rally.
