Softball Ranked Number One in the Nation

Northern Softball on the MaxPreps site.

With their 5–0 win Saturday against Mount De Sales Academy, Northern softball extended their winning streak to 62 games. Number 12 Julie Keleti was chosen player of the game, going three for four with a triple and scoring twice. The softball team was recently named number one in the nation by the CBS Sports high school sports website MaxPreps in their Xcellent 25 rankings and seems determined to hang onto that title.

The five time State Champion team is working toward continuing that streak, but faces tough competition. They take on North Point at home at 4:30 on Monday, county rival Huntingtown away at 4:30 on Wednesday, Lackey at home on Friday also at 4:30. On Saturday, April 27 the team will face number two nationally ranked Bishop O’Connell from Arlington, Virginia at home at 1 p.m. in a game some are looking at as a sort of high school national playoff game.

Additional coverage of the softball team will be featured in next week’s print edition of The Patriot Press newsmagazine.
