Both the boys and girls swim teams took second place at Regionals on Saturday, February 16. Regional records were set by sophomore Tommy Cranford, junior Ben Lawless and the relay team of Cranford, Lawless, freshman Nick Goszkowitz and senior Kyle Horak.

On Friday, February 1, Northern’s swim teams swam their last meet of the regular season. The girls team, led by seniors Peyton Colgan, Alexa Leininger, and Maura Schwartz, lost only two meets on the season to Leonardtown and North Point. “We had a smaller team than usual, but we had a lot of talent,” said Colgan. The boys team, led by seniors Andrew Kosa, Hordy Beauzile, and Lawless, lost just one meet to Huntingtown High School.

The underclassmen had a successful season, and look forward to the opportunities the coming years have to offer. Junior Rachel Cooper said, “It’s nice to have free time again, but I’m actually starting to miss it. I’m really looking forward to next year because it’s my senior year and Karly Klem and I are hoping to become captains.”

As select swimmers train rigorously for the State Championships February 18-25, their proud team members look ahead to future success in the pool.
