Chorus Winter Concert Friday

New chorus teacher Mr. Joshua Gresko warms up his vocal chords along with his new chamber choir students. Replacing Mr. Nicholas Peterson, Gresko has big shoes to fill, but members are already impressed. “Mr.Gresko really knows what he’s doing,” said senior Noah Most.

Chamber choir is one of the two chorus programs you must audition for available at the school. There are mandatory tryouts with call backs for members who are chosen. During the year the chamber choir puts on many performances including the Fall Concert, Winter Concert, their Festival Freeview, a coffee house performance and a Pop Concert. You can see them hit the stage this Friday night, when they offer their annual Winter Concert in the Mary Harrison Cultural Arts Center at 7 p.m.

Like the marching band, the choir holds fundraisers throughout the year. “We are hosting a spaghetti dinner as a fundraiser in order to raise money for the chamber chior,” said Gresko. To show support for the community, the choir held a benefit concert. “When we sing at the benefit concert, we raise money for different orginazations around the county,’” said senior Caitlyn Fagan. “Last year at our benefit concert, all of the money we raised went to END HUNGER in Calvert County.”

The concert Friday night will include all of the choirs at NHS performing winter and holiday favorites.
