During the week of March 12 and March 17, the boys lacrosse team had three scrimmages against top Maryland teams. the teams they played were Quince Orchard, Linganore, and Hereford. Linganore and Hereford were both state champions last year. Linganore was the 4A champ and Hereford were four-time defending 3A state champs. Quince Orchard is a Montgomery County lacrosse team that went 15-1 last year. The Northern boys did very well against the teams. NHS beat Quince Orchard 8–2, lost to Hereford 5-6, and fell to Linganore 5–6.
Senior Captain Chris Baxa said, “The games went extremeley well. I feel that we could have beaten the two state champs. We just have to work harder, but I feel we put out good effort in our games and still need to improve on basics.” Senior Midfielder Trevor Feinberg said,” I think it went well. I mostly watched the game from the sidelines. Although I could really see the team coming together and working hard.”
The team then moved on to their season opening game against Chopticon away on March 24. The team won the opener 15-3. Baxa said, “We came out slow. We played to their level, but we brought up the intensity after the first quarter.”
