Drive Review: Auto Action on DVD Today

When Drive came out in theatres in September, it did not exactly create the most buzz within the movie business. However, the movie is totally worth seeing. In fact, it just might be one of the best movies of 2011 and it’s out on DVD and Blu-Ray today.

From the beginning of the film, the dark and suspenseful tone is set. The driver, played by Ryan Gosling, hardly ever speaks or shows emotion as he switches between the three jobs which define his life. By day, he works at a garage, but also does stunt driving for movies as a side job. At night, he switches from kind neighbor to machine-like getaway driver for criminals.

As the Driver slowly gets involved with his cute next-door neighbor, he gets deeper and deeper into a mob boss’ plot to make easy money. In an attempt to keep his neighbor and her family safe, the Driver decides to take out the mob boss with nothing more than his amazing driving skills. The movie has an amazing soundtrack that viewers will remember for months to come, and the stylistic approach to filming keeps everyone interested even when Gosling’s character isn’t hurtling down the street. Drive is a movie that you can see three times in a row and still stay completely engaged. Grade: A+
