Review: Motorhead’s The World Is Yours

motorhead_world_is_yoursOn February 8, the hit Rock/Metal band Motorhead released their latest album, The World is Yours. It has only been about two years since the last album by the legendary band came out, but they have certainly proven that it doesn’t take a decade to make a masterpiece. In short, the album delivers.

Lemmy Kilminster, the lead singer, has always had one of the most unique singing voices in the music industry. His raspy vocals are obviously the result of a lifetime of screaming into a microphone (and maybe a cigarette or two), and it adds an amazing and distinctive character to the band. The album kicks off to a great start with “Born to Lose.” This track will remind all fans of Motorhead why they simply can’t stop listening to the band. The vigorous beat and the hard guitar riffs combined with Lemmy’s vocals make for a perfect intro.

The album ends with an acoustic version of one of the band’s most popular songs, “Ace of Spades.” While not as hardcore as the original song, the acoustic version is a refreshing and different take on Motorhead’s usual hard rock style. Overall, The World is Yours lives up to all expectations, and then exceeds them. Grade: A
