Review: The A-Team

a_team_posterLast Thursday, The A-Team rolled into theaters nationwide. People had to pay over $7 to see the movie, and they sure did get the bang for their buck. Maybe even too much bang.

The A-Team is an outrageous, action packed, heart attack-inducing movie from start to finish. Don’t believe me? Have you ever seen four men drive a tank out of an airplane? Not until you’ve seen this movie. The characters may not be deep or well developed, but that’s just because they were too busy slaying bad guys to sit down and tell us their life story.

The A-Team sets out to return some stolen U.S. currency printing plates that were still in Iraq at the end of the war, but they soon find that they have been set up by the C.I.A.. Eventually, they are caught and sent to separate prisons. This does little to stop the team from getting back together in order to seek revenge on whoever betrayed them. From that point on, the film is an adrenaline rush full of explosions, machine guns, and more explosions.

Liam Neeson (Taken), Bradley Cooper (The Hangover), and Sharlto Copley (District 9) all live up to their roles, originated in the 80’s television show on which the movie is based. However, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, who replaces the intimidating Mr. T, just doesn’t seem, well, badass enough. He still does a good job and had a few funny one-liners, but Mr. T used to tear his enemies to shreds and scare them simply by looking at them. Also, Jackson’s character says the word “fool” way too much, which gets annoying by the end of the film.

Overall, the A-Team is an on-the-edge-of-your-seat, fun to watch, summer blockbuster. Check it out while it’s still in theaters everywhere. Grade: A
