Three weeks into the series, The Vampire Diaries’ (the CW, Thursday, 8 p.m.) story is brilliant and the actors bring the story from the book to life. The new series features the talents of Paul Wesley (Cloud 9), Nina Dobrev (Degrassi: The Next Generation), and Ian Somerhalder (Lost).

The story follows Stefan Salvatore (Wesley) a vampire trying to make his life as normal as possible with the human Elena Gilbert (Dobrev) and keeping her safe from his wicked brother Damon Salvatore (Somerhalder). Stefan lives off the blood of animals, while Damon feeds off of people, causing widespread terror throughout the town of Mystic Falls that an animal has come to the town and is feeding off the people. While viewers may think that this is a rip off of Twilight, this series is based on a book that was written in 1991, fourteen years before Twilight was written. Grade: A
